BATON ROUGE, La. – The New Orleans Privateers got a couple of runs early but were ultimately defeated by a score of 11-3 on Wednesday night at Alex Box Stadium at Skip Bertman Field in front of over 10,000 fans.
HOW IT HAPPENED
New Orleans struck the board first with an opening frame run. Back-to-back singles by
Kasten Furr and
Amani Larry set the table and an
Anthony Herron Jr. plated the opening tally with an RBI sac fly to the warning track in right.
LSU responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame with the benefit of just one hit, an RBI double from Cade Doughty.
New Orleans got a run back in the second to trim the Tigers lead to 3-2.
Tyler Bischke doubled to set up a situation with runners on second and third and no outs. An RBI groundout by
Jeissy De la Cruz put the Privateers within one.
However, LSU took over from that point. A three-run second inning sparked by the top of the lineup with an RBI double by Tre Morgan and an RBI single from Dylan Crews stretched the LSU lead to 6-2. The Privateers LSU without a run over three of the next four innings as
Collin Kulivan,
Caleb Menina and
John Gray each had scoreless frames.
The Tigers though continued to extend their lead as they had a four-run seventh inning. One of two home runs by the Tigers was produced in the inning when Cade Doughty led off the frame with a solo homer as LSU sent all nine to the plate.

The Privateers will start a weekend series against the ULM Warhawks on Friday night in Monroe. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
