LeBlanc's Strong Outing, Balanced Offense Propel Privateers to Win at ULM

MONROE, La.Tyler LeBlanc took over the game and the New Orleans Privateers (6-2) pulled away late in an 8-2 victory over the ULM Warhawks (1-7) on Friday evening at Malone Stadium.

LEBLANC TAKES CENTER STAGE
The sophomore southpaw took center stage when he entered with the bases loaded in the fourth inning and ULM only trailing by two. LeBlanc induced a fly out off the bat of Mason Holt and from there he was spotless.

Tyler didn't allow a hit and only allowed two baserunners to reach for the rest of the evening. He also added a career-best eight strikeouts while picking up his third win of the season.

OFFENSE GETS ROLLING EARLY
After two sharp innings from Cam Barlow, the Privateers went to work on the lefty. A three-run third was started when Jeissy De la Cruz singled and Kasten Furr drew a walk behind him. Pearce Howard then followed with an RBI single to punch the first run across.

An Anthony Herron Jr. sac fly and a Miguel Useche double followed that pushed the New Orleans lead to 3-0. The Privateers added another run a frame later when De la Cruz doubled to drive in Jorge Tejeda.

GAME FLOW
The Warhawks then struck back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Austin Beech doubled and was later driven in by Chase Dejean on an RBI single. Another run came when Carson Jones had an RBI fielder's choice that trimmed the New Orleans lead to 4-2.

The score stayed that way until the eighth when the Privateers scored three to break the game open. The big hit came when Furr legged out a ground ball toward second for a single that scored two runs. The Privateers added another run on the back of two ULM errors in the ninth.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Privateers had 10 hits spread throughout the lineup. Furr, De la Cruz and Tyler Bischke each had two hits. De la Cruz added three RBI while Furr drove in a pair. Howard added another RBI for his 12th of the season. He entered the weekend co-leading the Southland in that category.

Of LeBlanc's 73 pitches, 49 went for strikes. Barlow took the loss while allowing four runs on six hits in five innings.
