The Privateers began with the first five points of the match. Their lead extended to 8-1 before McNeese settled in and quickly rallied back to tie the score at 9-9. The set was tied still at 20-20 when the Cowgirls went on a 5-1 run keyed three kills and a block from McKenzie Moore.
Set two was even more intense with 16 ties and six lead changes. The Cowgirls raced out to an early advantage but the Privateers erased it behind strong defense and a balanced attack.
