New Orleans is 1-0 after an efficient 100-70 opener against Millsaps College on Monday. The Privateers shot 45 percent to build a thirty-point advantage. It was sophomore Omarion Henry who went to work inside and outside during the 21 minutes that he played, hitting 7-of-12 field goals, including a made three-point attempt and five rebounds. Henry was one of three Privateers in double figures as Jordan Johnson had 18 points while freshman Jah Short had 13 points. New Orleans would shoot 80 percent from the foul line hitting 29-of-36.

In all, 13 players took to the floor, 13 would score, 13 posted rebounds, eight had assists and seven had steals.

SUNO is led by second year head coach James Matthews, who boasts three wins after the SUNO Knights took a three-year hiatus due to the athletic programs' budget constraints. Sitting at 0-5 on the season, the Knights dropped two close games to Life (75-77) and Point (56-67) on the road. SUNO saw four Knights in double-figures against Life. Freshman Jamal Gibson led the Knights with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Devin Daniels shoveled in 13 points and four rebounds while Isaiah Lewis grabbed a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Damonte Streate also chipped in ten points and five rebounds. Gibson averages a team-high 12 points per game.

The Privateers are undefeated against the Knights having seen them seven times in program history. New Orleans last defeated SUNO at the castle 79-75 February 18, 2012, and before that at the Lakefront 82-71 January 19, 2012. After Saturday's game, the Privateers will prepare for Loyola Chicago next Saturday at Gentile Arena in Chicago, Ill. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
