Privateers Drop Series Opener to McNeese

LAKE CHARLES, La. – The McNeese Cowboys got the jump on New Orleans and took the series opener 11-1 after seven innings on Friday at Joe Miller Ballpark.

DECISIONS
Grant Rogers moved to 9-0 after pitching a seven-inning complete game and scattering seven hits on the night. Beau Blanchard took the loss.

The Privateers got it to two outs in the first inning but Tre Obregon III came up and hit a two-run homer on a 2-1 pitch that gave McNeese an early 2-0 lead after the opening inning.

New Orleans responded with a run in the top of the second. Jorge Tejeda drew a two-out walk and scored when two batters later, Kasten Furr singles to left on an 0-2 pitch. McNeese had an answer for that run though as Taylor Darden homered to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Cowboys did all their offensive damage early as they put up three more runs in the third and five in the fourth. McNeese had 11 runs on 12 hits and they had four extra base hits on the night (two doubles, two home runs).

The back half of McNeese's lineup produced seven hits and six RBI between the six through nine hitters in the lineup. Darden and Schuyler Thibodaux each had two hits on the night.

INSIDE THE BOX
