NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers rallied to tie the game in the ninth but ultimately fell 8-7 in 11 innings against the HCU Huskies on Saturday evening at Maestri Field.

Matthew Charles pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win for the Huskies. The loss went to
Collin Horton.
The Privateers were trailing 7-4 and facing hard throwing closer, Morris Austin. However, the first two men got on base via a walk and a single. Then
Miguel Useche doubled to deep center which scored one run.
Moore was caught in a rundown between third and home but Huskies catcher, Parker Edwards sailed the throw into left, allowing Moore and Useche to score which tied the game.
It carried to extra innings where HCU broke through in the eleventh. Austin Roccaforte doubled to lead off the inning then advanced to third on a balk. He was eventually driven in on a Reed Chumley RBI single.
New Orleans faced a one-run deficit but they loaded the bases with two outs.
Dylan Mach was ahead 3-1 in the count but Charles came back to record a strikeout and end the game. It was the first extra inning game the Privateers played this season.
After a rainy day, the skies cleared for a 7 p.m. start. It was all about the offense early as there were seven combined runs in the first two innings.
HCU led 4-3 after two innings but extended their lead further on a two-run single through the right side by Dylan LaRue.
The Privateers got a run back when
Kasten Furr scored on a
Tyler Bischke single. That run put Furr at 169 career runs scored, which ties him for tenth in program history.
The loss was just the second home loss in 12 games against HCU.
