Men’s Basketball Mourns the Loss of Long-time Hotard Driver Henry Thomas II

NEW ORLEANS, La. - New Orleans men's basketball mourns the loss of long-time Hotard driver and incredible Privateer supporter Mr. Henry Thomas II this past weekend.

Thomas, a New Orleans native, was the designated driver for the Privateers men's basketball program for over a decade. He was beloved by his family, friends, Privateer nation and everyone he came in contact with. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Patricia Brown-Thomas and the entire Thomas family.

HEAD COACH MARK SLESSINGER:
Our City has lost one of its finest with the passing of Mr. Henry.  He was as fine of a person as I have ever met and I was blessed to be considered his friend.  Mr. Henry drove our team throughout my tenure here at UNO and he was so much more to our student-athletes, coaches, and staff.  He was a role model of how to carry yourself professionally.  Our student-athletes had an advocate who believed in them while celebrating their victories and helping counsel them through their tough times. I have so many great memories together from the late night conversations on the final couple hours returning home after a long road trip to his incredible smile as I approached the motorcoach.  Henry was on our bench when we won the Southland Conference Tournament Championship and celebrated as the confetti fell.  He was a great man and friend to friend to all.
