HAMMOND, La. – The New Orleans Privateers were in an early battle through the opening stages of the match but were defeated 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-14) by the Southeastern Lady Lions on Thursday at the Pride Roofing University Center.
The Privateers were going back and forth with the defending Southland champs through the first 20-plus rallies. There were five ties and two lead changes in that stretch but Southeastern took command from there. The Lady Lions hit .344 for the opening set and had 17 kills. New Orleans also crested a .300 hitting percentage (.308) in the first set with no attack errors.
Though the Privateers were able to extend some rallies, Southeastern's offense stayed to task. The Lady Lions had their most efficient set in the second when they went for a .414 attack percentage and 15 kills in 29 attempts.
Elani Ratchkovska did a little of everything for the Privateers. She hit .500 on eight attempts, added three block assists, three digs and a service ace.
Molly Kehoe led the Privateers offense with eight kills and changed speeds on several of her kills. Kehoe posted a .333 attack percentage.
INSIDE THE BOX
Karen Cordero Barr added six kills and six digs.
Tatiana Mercer led the way in digs with eight.
Buse Kocakaya had three total blocks and
Sydney Gott in her return, added two total blocks. Mercer also had two aces.
Kailin Newsome finished with a double-double (12 kills, 12 digs). Rachel Hartmann added nine kills and 13 digs.
