Privateers Get Career-High 22 From Francois in Win at McNeese

LAKE CHARLESNora Francois scored a career-high 22 points and the New Orleans Privateers scored a 74-59 win over the McNeese Cowgirls on Saturday afternoon at the Legacy Center. The Privateers are now 3-1 on the road in conference play after the win.

Francois was 7-of-15 in 38 minutes of play and she made all four of her three-point attempts as the Privateers led for most of the contest.

DeArica Pryor also put herself on the doorstep of 1,000 career points. With her 20-point output today, Pryor is at 997 career points (Creighton totals included). Pryor was 7-of-12 from the field and added four of the team's 10 steals.

The Cowgirls scored the first basket of the game on an Azjah Reeves layup. From there, it was all Privateers who quickly asserted their command. The first run was a 9-0 spurt that gave the Privateers a 16-7 lead inside of four minutes remaining in the first quarter.

New Orleans led by as many as 17 points in the opening 20 minutes and they shot 48.1 percent from the field. The Privateers were also highly accurate, making 5-of-7 three-pointers in the opening half. Nora Francois (11) and DeArica Pryor (10) were already in double figures by halftime.

McNeese got the Privateer lead down to six late in the third quarter but Justice Ross dished out one of her game-high six assists to Francois for a three and the Cowgirls never got closer from that point. Ross also added two more blocks to her season total. She has nine in the last four games.

WE ARE YOUR KREWE
For 54 seasons, Privateer student-athletes have had the unique experience of wearing New Orleans across their chests.  Like the city itself, our sports teams have been fueled by resiliency, grit, and the unquenchable desire to win.  Our city also houses the nation's biggest celebration each year. And much like a Mardi Gras parade krewe, we are tethered to our community through pride, tradition, a culture of acceptance, and finally our commitment to show that New Orleans is a world-class city to live, learn, play and work. We invite you to become more involved with the only University that truly represents New Orleans all day, every day.  Join #NOLAsTeam, We Are Your Krewe!
