Ryan WIlliams Notches Season-High 10 Kills in Loss Against Southeastern

NEW ORLEANSRyan Williams notched a season-high 10 kills but the Southeastern Lions won the night with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-13) victory over the New Orleans Privateers on Tuesday night at the Human Performance Center.
 
Southeastern started the night with six straight points and a 12 of the first 15 in the opening set. From there, Defne Eciroglu's service rotation scored the first big run of the match that cut the Southeastern lead to 12-9.
 
The Lions withstood the run and took the opening set behind a .360 attack percentage. Southeastern hit .378 for the night.
 
Southeastern began the second set with another run when they scored seven of the first nine points. From there, New Orleans cut the deficit to as little as two when they were trailing 9-7 but Southeastern responded with six points in the next seven rallies. That spurt was capped by Alexis Logarbo who had back-to-back kills.
 
After the two teams split the first six rallies of the third set, the Lions went on a 9-0 run keyed by three kills from Cicily Hidalgo. The Privateers could not get closer than within five points for the remainder of the set.
 
With the win, Southeastern has now run their Southland winning streak to 20 consecutive matches.
 
INSIDE THE BOX
Chelsea Daffin and Divine Muo each finished with five kills. Lani Alleman led the way in digs with seven on the night. Courtney Roundtree had four block assists. Akeir Scales finished with two block assists.
 
NEXT UP
The Privateers will travel to Thibodaux to face Nicholls on Thursday, Oct. 3.
