NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers had a solid start through the opening rallies but the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks assumed command from that point in a 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-9) decision on Thursday night at Shelton Gym.
The first 16 rallies didn't have a lot decided between the two sides. Three Privateers got a kill during that stretch and Stephen F. Austin's lead was 9-7. From there, the Ladyjacks assumed command behind Kyanna Creecy who had four kills as Stephen F. Austin took the first set of the evening.
After serving two aces in the opening set, the Ladyjacks did one better with three in the second set. They also had 12 kills with just one error in 15 attempts. The set closed with Stephen F. Austin executing a 6-1 run.
Stephen F. Austin continued to keep the pressure on the Privateers. Leading 12-5, Jaedyn Flynn went to the service line and connected on three consecutive aces. As a unit, the Ladyjacks had 12 service aces on the night to just three service errors.
Creecy was perfect, scoring kills on all 11 of her attempts and added five block assists. Izabella Ortiz also had 11 kills. Flynn notched half of the Ladyjacks' aces as she had six on the night. The win was the 35
th consecutive for the Ladyjacks at their home gym.
INSIDE THE BOX
Courtney Roundtree had seven kills to lead the offense and added a block assist.
Divine Muo finished with four kills and
Ryan Williams added three kills.
Lani Alleman and
Defne Eciroglu co-led the Privateers in digs with five apiece.
