LAKE CHARLES, La. –
Courtney Roundtree tied for a match high with 12 kills and hit .375 but the McNeese Cowgirls took the match 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-18) on Saturday afternoon at the Legay Center.
It began as even keel as could be through the first 10 rallies with both sides splitting those points evenly. Shortly after, McNeese went on their first big run, scoring in eight of nine rallies to assume a 13-7 lead. Megan Grose had two kills in that set.
McNeese continued to pull away on the scoreboard behind six total blocks and a 15-6 advantage in the kill department.
The second set began in the exact same fashion as its predecessor. The score was tied at 5-5 when McNeese went on a spurt of six straight points. Five of those points came on kills and four different Cowgirls added to their kill tally in that stretch.
McNeese hit .400 for the second set and had only one attack error in 30 swings as they took a 2-0 lead in the match.
McKenzie Moore joined Roundtree with 12 kills. Moore led the Cowgirls offense and recorded a .522 hitting percentage. McNeese added two more blocks to their match total in the third set and finished with 10 rejections on the day.
