GAME NOTES: UNO | TULANESOUTHLAND

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans (1-4) and Tulane University (4-1) men's basketball programs will renew hostilities in the 49th meeting Friday evening at Avron B. Fogleman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

For the first time in 2,915 days, the teams will meet with the victor taking a one-game lead in a series that is currently tied at 24 wins apiece. New Orleans won the last meeting in 2016, 74-59 at Lakefront Arena. Stacy Hollowell has faced Tulane five times during his tenure at Loyola, with all of those meetings resulting in losses. Tulane head coach Ron Hunter has won his only game against UNO – a 72-60 victory in the Billy Minardi Classic at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky in 2004 when he was the head coach at IUPUI.

The Privateers are led in scoring and rebounding by James White. The three-time transfer is currently averaging 18.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. White has scored in double figures in all five of his games at the Lakefront and has scored 20 points or more in three of the last four games. He has pulled down exactly eight rebounds in all but one contest – the game against Lindenwood, where he grabbed 11 rebounds. White currently ranks No. 1 in rebounding and No. 2 in scoring in the Southland Conference.

SCOUTING THE GREEN WAVE
Tulane was picked to finish 11th in the American Athletic Conference's preseason poll, with no preseason All-Conference selections. The Green Wave enter Friday's contest with four wins in five games this season, with their only loss coming at Furman on Nov. 15. Their calling card so far has been their defense, where they rank No. 2 in the NCAA in field goal percentage allowed and No. 19 in overall scoring defense.

Kaleb Banks has four double-doubles in five games for Tulane and is averaging 17.2 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, which ranks in the top 60 nationally. Rowan Brumbaugh also ranks No. 13 in the NCAA with 32 total assists and No. 24 with 6.4 assists per game.
