Kimbrough, Francois Notch Double-Figures in Loss at Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, La. – The New Orleans Privateers started commencing a rally in the third quarter but were left with too much to do in a 61-46 loss to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Tuesday night at the Cajundome.

New Orleans spent the entire third quarter methodically chipping away at the lead after falling behind by 22 at the half. Jayla Kimbrough scored eight points in the quarter. Meanwhile, the Privateer defense limited Louisiana to 1-of-9 from the field and forced seven turnovers as they outscored them by nine to trim the Cajuns lead to 13.

The Privateers got the lead down to 12 with 7:27 left but the Cajuns responded with three-pointers on two of their next three possessions to stave off re-extend their lead to 18.

Brialle Washington got the Privateers on the board and their first lead of the game with a three-pointer to make the score 3-2. From there, the Ragin' Cajuns scored the next nine points in 4:26 of game action to take an eight-point lead.

The first half saw 16 Privateer turnovers, which the home side flipped into 20 points. Louisiana also shot 45.5 percent from the field in the opening half and they continued to build on their lead. By the halftime break it was 37-15 in favor of Louisiana.
