MOBILE, Ala. –
Kyrin Tyson-Long notched a six-out save after
Alexander Saunier put the New Orleans Privateers ahead for good in a 7-5 win over the South Alabama Jaguars on Wednesday at Stanky Field.
The Privateers found themselves behind after seven innings as the Jaguars got a two-run double from Lucas Ismalli and a two-run single from Duncan Matthews to give the home side a 5-4 lead heading to the eighth.
New Orleans responded with solid at-bats against Cooper Cooksey and closer Grant Wood.
Dalton Hurst drew a walk and
Collin Loupe singled on a ground ball up the middle. Three batters later with first base open, the Jaguars intentionally walked
Mitchell Sanford after Wood fell behind 3-1 in the count.
Enter Saunier who fouled off a pair of two-strike pitches before he got a pitch that he drove into right field which scored two runs to give the Privateers the lead back at 6-5. New Orleans added another insurance run in the ninth when
Victor Castillo scored on a wild pitch.
Will Turner got the Jaguars on the board first with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. Privateers starter,
Cortez Dennis kept the deficit at one until the Privateers erased that with a four-run fourth inning that was highlighted by Castillo's two-run homer.
South Alabama came back with four runs in the seventh inning. Lucas Ismalli hit a two-run double to left and Duncan Mathews followed with a two-run single to give the Jaguars the lead back at 5-4 through seven innings.
