Meet the Krewe: New Orleans to Host Annual Basketball Fan Event

NEW ORLEANS – It's that time of year again! The University of New Orleans is excited to invite Privateer fans to the annual Meet the Krewe event, offering a fantastic opportunity to connect with the 2024-25 men's and women's basketball teams.

The event is free and open to the public and will be held in the Lakefront Arena auxiliary gym on September 26 at 5:30 p.m. CST. Parking will be available on the North Lot.

Fans will have the chance to meet both teams, hear from head coaches Stacy Hollowell and Trelanne Powell, take pictures upon request, and get autographs. Light refreshments and drinks will also be available.

Head Men's Basketball Coach Stacy Hollowell, entering his first season with the Privateers, will lead a 15-man roster that includes three Louisiana natives: Turk Vincent, Grant Kemp, and Kohen Rowbatham.

Vincent, a senior from New Orleans, has been a key player for the Privateers for the past three years after attending L.B. Landry High School. Kemp, a junior from Madisonville, joins the team following three seasons at LSU-Alexandria. Rowbatham, a Slidell native, will make his collegiate debut this year after a standout high school career at St. Thomas Aquinas.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Trelanne Powell, now in her second year, brings a 14-person roster into the season. In her first year, she led the team to an improved win total compared to the previous season.

This year, juniors Brialle Washington and Mackenzie Joseph are the only Louisiana natives on the squad. Washington, from Rayne, previously competed at Indian River State junior college, while Joseph, from Vinton, joins the team after two seasons at Western Nebraska.
Season and single-game tickets for both teams are available for purchase here

WE ARE YOUR KREWE
For 54 seasons, Privateer student-athletes have had the unique experience of wearing New Orleans across their chests.  Like the city itself, our sports teams have been fueled by resiliency, grit, and the unquenchable desire to win.  Our city also houses the nation's biggest celebration each year. And much like a Mardi Gras parade krewe, we are tethered to our community through pride, tradition, a culture of acceptance, and finally our commitment to show that New Orleans is a world-class city to live, learn, play, and work. We invite you to become more involved with the only University that truly represents New Orleans all day, every day.  Join #NOLAsTeam, We Are Your Krewe!
