Vincent, Rowbatham Post Career Highs to Spark Privateers to Second Straight Road Victory

NEW ORLEANS – Versatile senior Jamond "Turk" Vincent and freshman guard Kohen Rowbatham both recorded career-highs in scoring as the University of New Orleans (4-13, 2-5 Southland) defeated East Texas A&M (2-16, 0-7 Southland) 82-73 on Saturday afternoon in Commerce, Texas.

With 7:15 remaining, Vincent caught fire, making four three-pointers over the next four minutes change to extend the Privateers' lead from six to 13 with 4:34 to play. A layup by Tay Mosher cut the Privateer advance down to six with 1:07 left, but free throws by Vincent and Rowbatham down the stretch secured UNO's second straight victory.

Vincent's 28-point outburst led the Privateers. It was the fourth 20-point game of his career and his first since 2023. On Saturday, he became just the third Privateer to make at least five three-pointers in a game without a miss. James Parlow went 6-for-6 against Troy in 2007, and A.J. Meredith made 5-for-5 against North Texas in 2002.

Rowbatham's 24 points off the bench marked a new career-high, more than doubling the 10 points he scored in his last game against Lamar. He made 7-of-10 shots from the floor and is just the third true freshman to score 20 points in the Southland this year.

The last Privateer freshman to score 20 in a game was teammate Omarion Henry, who scored exactly 20 against Lamar in 2023, and no Privateer freshman has had scored more than 21 in a game since the program became a Southland Conference member. The last UNO freshman to score as many as Rowbatham's total in Commerce was the legendary Bo McCalebb, who scored 31 against North Texas in the 2004 Sun Belt Conference tournament.

Alongside the scoring outbursts from Vincent and Rowbatham, the Privateers turned up the pressure on defense, forcing 21 Lions turnovers to match a season high for UNO and the second-most East Texas A&M has committed this season. New Orleans also had a season-high 15 steals, including four each from Vincent and Jah Short. Saturday marked Short's fifth game this season with four steals.

Short also finished with a team-high six assists, his sixth game in the past seven with five or more assists. MJ Thomas scored 13 points with six rebounds - just one rebound shy of Vincent's team-leading seven.

The Privateers scored 25 points off turnovers, including 23 fast-break points. UNO had its best shooting night of the season, making 28 of 50 shots (56%) from the floor.

New Orleans returns to action on Monday afternoon with a trip to Prather Coliseum to face Northwestern State. The game, originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m., has been moved up to 1 p.m. to avoid impending winter storms. It will still air on ESPN+ and 106.1 The Ticket.
