STILLWATER, Okla. – The New Orleans Privateers got 11 points from 
Shanihya Brown, but the 22
nd ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls made 17 three-pointers as they defeated the Privateers 109-48 on Monday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
 
Brown converted the first basket of the game on a driving layup on the opening possession after the Privateers won the opening tip. Oklahoma State got on the board on their first possession in response when Stailee Heard converted a three-pointer.
 
That was the start of a 15-0 run for the Cowgirls that elapsed nearly the next four minutes of the opening quarter.
 
New Orleans scored a quick five points in succession on a layup by 
Trinity Bane and a three-pointer by 
Brialle Washington to cut the deficit to single digits, but the hot shooting Cowgirls continued to steadily add to their lead throughout the first half behind 10 made three-pointers and shooting 64.3 percent from the field. Oklahoma State took a 40-point lead into the half.
 
The Privateers forced 21 Oklahoma State turnovers in the losing effort.
 
Oklahoma State was led by Micah Gray who had 24 points for the winning side. Haleigh Timmer added 18 points and Lena Girardi finished with 15 points. The Cowgirls had six players in double figures.
 
INSIDE THE BOX
Brown went 5-of-9 from the field and added a pair of assists. 
Jayla Owen scored eight points off the bench for the Privateers who had 26 bench points on the night. Washington added seven points. Bane and 
Jayla Kimbrough each had two steals for the Privateers.
 
NEXT UP
The Privateers will head to Tulsa to face the Golden Hurricane on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
