Privateers Score First but Fall in Tuesday Road Game at #2 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU Tigers hit four home runs on the night as they took the lead in the second inning and defeated the New Orleans Privateers 11-1 in seven innings on Tuesday at Alex Box Stadium at Skip Bertman Field.

New Orleans (11-8) grabbed the lead in the first inning off starter, Jade Noot. After a leadoff walk drawn by Diego Villescas, Matt Gonzalez singled through the left side. Then Bryan Loriga came up and hit a single to right to bring in the first run of the game.

Noot recovered to retire the next three batters in order. The Tigers then responded with a Jared Jones solo home run in the bottom of the first to tie the score at 1-1.

With two outs, the Tigers had runners on second and third and they drew back-to-back walks to grab the lead. Josh Pearson's free pass scored Tanner Reaves to give LSU a 2-1 advantage.

The Tigers continued to build on the lead as they scored in six of the seven innings. Ethan Frey had two homers and Cade Arrambide homered as the Tigers notched their 16th consecutive victory and moved to 21-1 on the season.

The Privateers had six hits on the night. Noot got the win for LSU as he went four innings and struck out five while allowing one run.
