NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers came back from down six runs at one point to take a late lead but ultimately fell short 10-9 in the series finale to the Northwestern State Demons on Sunday at Maestri Field.
Northwestern State scored three runs in each of the first two innings and held the Privateers off the scoreboard until the fifth. A four-run sixth though keyed by back-to-back homers from

Tristan Moore got New Orleans within a run.
They got to the lead in the eighth inning.
Adrian Dominguez tied the game when he took a 2-2 pitch into left. Then Calloway followed two batters later with a single through the right side to give New Orleans an 8-7 lead.
The Demons came right back and scored three though in the top of the ninth. The first two men reached on a hit by pitch and a single. After a sac bunt, the Privateers intentionally walked Rocco Gump to load the bases.
Clay Jung then delivered a two-run single to give Northwestern State the lead. A key sac fly by Daniel Burroway gave the Demons an insurance run.
New Orleans took it right down to the wire as
Collin Loupe doubled to deep center and was later driven in by a
Collin Husser pinch hit single. Demons pitcher, Bryce Leonard got a ground out though to end the game and preserve the series for Northwestern State.
After two days of low scoring affairs, the offenses combined for 19 runs on 23 hits in the series finale. Leonard got the win to move to 2-1. The loss went to
Trey Usey (0-1).
Reese Lipoma went 2-for-5 with a homer and two runs scored. Gump and Jung combined for five RBI.
