NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team came out strong but a big second quarter run by the Stephen F. Austin Lady Jacks propelled them to a 101-64 decision on Thursday night at the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
The Privateers went on a 6-2 spurt to start and made seven of their first 15 field goal attempts to hold a 17-13 lead in the latter stages of the first quarter. The Lady Jacks went on an 11-2 run, however to close the opening stanza and push them to a 24-19 lead.
From there, Stephen F. Austin outscored the Privateers 27-10 in the second quarter behind a field goal percentage of 52.9. Ashlyn Traylor-Walker scored 10 points in the quarter and Stephen F. Austin forced seven turnovers in the stanza to carry a 22-point lead into the locker room.
Stephen F. Austin shot 48.1 percent from the field on the night and had 26 assists on 37 made field goals. Traylor-Walker and Key Roseby had 23 points each for the Lady Jacks on the night.
The Privateers shot 84.9 percent from the charity stripe and were perfect from the line in the second half.
INSIDE THE BOX
Hailee Brennen finished with 15 points to lead the Privateers.
Brialle Washington added 10 points and has scored in double figures in 12 of her last 16 games.
Jayla Kimbrough finished with nine points and five rebounds.
Shanihya Brown finished with five points and seven assists.
