HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Lions used a four-run second inning to jump ahead as they notched an 11-1 win over the New Orleans Privateers on Saturday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
New Orleans struck first behind an RBI triple from
Kruise Newman with two outs that scored
Dylan Biddick. After a nine-pitch first inning by
Bryson Goff, the Privateers had the opening statement on their side.
However, the Lions took over the game from there. A lead-off walk was followed by a double from Rhett Centanni. After a hit by pitch loaded the bases, Alex Perry delivered a two-run double to give Southeastern a lead they did not relinquish for the rest of the afternoon.
The Lions added four more runs in the third inning with the big hit coming from Perry who homered to left to extend the Lions' lead to 8-1. Southeastern added three more runs in the fourth, all on a Connor Cuff two-out home run.
Lakin Polk turned in six innings with just four hits and a run allowed for his third win of the season. Austin Minichino closed it down in the seventh. After the first two Privateers reached base, Minichino got a line out to right and followed with two strikeouts to keep the Pontchartrain Bowl in Hammond.
2026 marks the seventh year out of 11 the Lions have won the trophy.
All eight hits came from the four through seven hitters in the lineup. Perry and Cuff were responsible for nine RBI. Cuff, Centanni and Peyton Woods had three runs each.
