Privateers Hit Four Home Runs, Top UTRGV in Series Finale

EDINBURG, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers posted a five-run fourth inning to take the lead and never looked back as they defeated the UTRGV Vaqueros 13-6 on Sunday at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.

The Vaqueros got the early 3-0 lead after a three-run homer in the first inning from Julius Ramirez. From there, Bryson Goff settled in and held the Vaqueros scoreless over the next four frames.

Meanwhile, the Privateer offense clicked into gear starting in the third inning with two homers. Eli Tidwell hit his first homer of the day on a 1-2 fastball to get New Orleans on the board. Owen Smith followed with a two-run blast of his own to tie the game.

Then New Orleans batted around in the fourth inning and brought in five runs on five hits. Tidwell's sac bunt brought the go-ahead run home. Kareh Valentin followed with an RBI infield single and Evan Rogers took a ball the other way for a two-run single. Adrian Dominguez put an exclamation point on the frame with an RBI single.

The Privateers kept piling on as they parked four homers on the day. Tidwell hit another home run becoming the second Privateer in as many days with two homers in a game. Eddie Castillo hit his first homer of the season in his first start in the field.

New Orleans stretched their lead to as much as 12-3 in the sixth inning.

The Vaqueros got three runs back on an Armani Raygoza homer and a two-run double from Ethan Edinger.

In the seventh, the Vaqueros loaded the bases with no outs but Lane Alack came on and got a strikeout, a soft liner to second and a fly out to right to get the Privateers out of the jam with no runs allowed. Alack went on to pitch the final two innings as he picked up his first save of the season.
