Kal Bonura

Serving as a student assistant on the 2012 UNO Baseball team and will coach first base.

2011: Appeared in five games and made one start... Lone start came at Dallas Baptist (3/3)... Batted .222 for the season with two hits in nine plate appearances... Opened the season 2-for-3 at the plate including a hit in single appearance at Northwestern State (2/25).

2010: Appeared in five games with 11 plate appearances... Made collegiate debut on Feb. 21 against St. John's with first career hit in first at-bat... Added another hit against Southern on Mar. 17... Three games at 2B with single appearances at SS and 3B.

o High School: Four-year letter winner at Holy Cross High School and was two-time All-District pick...Hit .360 with six home runs and 38 RBIs for Tigers as a senior in 2008 and also hit .350 with three home runs and 27 RBIs as a junior in '07...Was also a Class 4A All-State selection as a wide receiver.

o Personal: Born Sept. 17, 1989 in New Orleans...Son of Kenny and Sandy Bonura... Has two younger brothers, Bret and Chip...Majoring in IDS....Father, Kenny, was a four-year letter winner at UNO and played on the 1984 College World Series team...He was also an assistant coach for the Privateers under former coach Randy Bush.
