Bruno Chateau was tabbed as assistant coach, remaining in state for his first season on the Lakefront. Chateau officially started in August 2021.

Prior to the Privateers, Chateau spent two seasons in Lafayette where he was an assistant with the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. While there, Chateau helped the Cajuns' squad to leading the Sun Belt in digs per set (17.88) and the third best opponent hitting percentage (.186).

Chateau also had assistant jobs stateside with Colorado College and Denver. Both schools won conference championships while Chateau was on the sideline and Colorado College accrued a 60-8 record during his two years.

Starting out, Chateau was a head coach at Villejuif Volleyball Club in France where he coached the men's and women's teams. He was also the program's director. Chateau also had a stint with the French Junior National Volleyball Team as an assistant coach.
