Angela Marin is entering her second year in 2011-12 as the Director of Athletic Operations and as an assistant volleyball coach.
In the role of Director of Athletic Operations, Marin assists with the day-to-day operations of the athletic department, including travel, game contracts, serving as a liasion to the spirit organizations and providing additional support to other areas of the department.
Marin comes to the administrative side of the athletic department after serving three years on the women's basketball staff of Amy Champion, where she served as Director of Operations. During her three years on Champion's staff, Marin handled travel and developed while also overseeing video operations.
Her first two years as a member of the staff included overseeing the academic welfare of the team's student-athletes. During those two years, three players received Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List honors with four qualifying for the league's Academic Honor Roll.
Prior to joining the basketball staff, Marin served as a graduate assistant in the UNO athletic department taking part in a wide range of tasks from assisting the sports information department with game day duties to handling correspondence for all six Privateer teams. Additionally, she assisted with Grant-in-Aid agreements, Letters of Intent and Financial Aid procedures for student-athletes. Marin came to the Lakefront with then-UNO head mens’ basketball coach Buzz Williams, following him from Texas A&M.
At A&M, Marin served a student assistant for the men’s basketball program under head coach Billy Gillispie, presently the coach at Texas Tech. In her role in College Station, she maintained recruiting and camp databases in addition to scheduling games, handing all aspects of team travel and overseeing film exchange. She also helped assistant coaches with scouting reports, playing in an important role in the Aggies turnaround from a 7-21 record the year before Gillespie arrived on campus into a 21-10 squad in his first year (2004-05).
Off the floor, Marin is regular when it comes to working the scorer's table at UNO home basketball events. Away from the Lakefront, she has provided table crew assistance at the 2011 NCAA Men's Regional and 2008 NCAA Women's Regional at New Orleans Arena. Marin has also assisted in NCAA early round events in 2006, 2007 and 2010, as well as the the 2006 Big XII mens' basketball tournament.
The native of San Antonio, Texas graduated from Texas A&M in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology.
