#55 Privateers Fall to #42 Tulane, 7-0

For the first time this season, the #55 University of New Orleans (21-1) women's tennis team left the courts after a match without a victory, falling to #42 Tulane, 7-0, this afternoon at Goldring Tennis Center. This marked the end of UNO's 21 dual match winning streak.

Tulane began the day by taking the doubles point with wins at the no.2 & 3 positions. the Green Wave's no. 3 duo, Anna Monhartova and Anneli Axsater swiftly defeated the Privateers Simone Zettier and Liselott Hedenberg, 7-0, while Tulane's no. 2 team of Nancy Kockett and Olga Mikhailova defeated Inge Veerman and Ana Santoro, 8-6. Sophomore Sofia Hallstrom and freshman Patricia Osedumme teamed up to win the no. 1 doubles match, 8-5, over Tulane's Julie Morris and Joyce Bergman.

Singles play was dominated by Tulane, with the Green Wave wtaking all six matches in straight sets. The Wave's Anneli Axsater struggled past Hedenberg, 7-5, 6-1. Hallstrom, facing her toughest competitor of the year, fell, 6-4, 6-4, to No. 23 ranked Monhartova, while Osedumme also lost her singles match to Morris, 6-4, 6-4.

The Privateers will take a few days off for spring break before they return to play at the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Mobile, Ala. on April 20-22.
