Alex Smith is this week's UNOPrivateers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.

Smith picked up his first win of the season on Friday against Houston Baptist, pitching seven innings and giving up one run to a Houston Baptist squad that came into the weekend with a team batting average of .299.

Smith added two pickoffs on the mound, and now has five of the Privateers' eight pickoffs this season. Alex navigated out of a jam in the sixth by inducing a ground out with the bases loaded and two outs to keep the score tied at the time at 1-1.
