New Orleans men's tennis player Hossam Meligy is the UNOPrivateers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.

This past week, Meligy was responsible for a pair of UNO men's tennis wins during the team's dual against Jackson State. In doubles' play, Meligy partenered with fellow senior Ricardo Campos for an 8-4 victory over Carlos Martinez and Camilo Patino.

When play turned to singles, Meligy dropped the opening set in a tiebreaker before coming alive to rally from a set down for a 6-7, 6-1, 10-3 win over Hernan Gernia at the No. 5 court.

Nominated for Southland Conference 'Player of the Week', Meligy has also been nominated for All-Southland honors in both singles' and doubles' play. Meligy was 4-1 in singles' play within the Southland and along with Campos, posted a 4-0 mark against league foes in doubles' action.

Meligy heads into the Southland Conference tournament this week with a 37-21 mark in doubles' play and a 39-26 record in singles' over the course of his career.
