Privateers Post Win in Return to Chamber of Horrors

Box Score NEW ORLEANS - Antonio Wertz and Zach Kinsley provided the offensive spark as the University of New Orleans men's basketball program defeated Pensacola Christian College 76-58 on Saturday night at the Human Performance Center.

In a game that featured a combined 45 turnovers, UNO (4-2) received 22 points from Antonio Wertz in the team's first appearance at the historic Chamber of Horrors since a 2008 Sun Belt Conference tournament win over Denver. Wertz also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds while Kinsley added another 20 points

PCC (2-9) had 23 of the game's turnovers and were led by Brooks Lindblad's 21 points. Lindblad was joined in double-figures by Matt Goetsch, who added 12.

UNO opened with a 5-0 run before the Eagles made their first basket of the game. PCC would make just one of 11 shots from the field to start the contest as the Privateers remained in the driver's seat.

Turnovers would keep the Eagles' within four at 11-7 before a Wertz fast break dunk followed by a fast break lay-up by Brandon Knight sparked a strong first half finish for UNO. Wertz would have 15 points during the first 20 minutes of the game as the Privateers took a 35-17 lead into the break.

UNO looked to put the game out of reach early in the second half, scoring 13 of the first 18 points to take a 48-22 advantage, the team's largest lead of the game.

Poor shooting and turnovers rattled Privateers as the Eagles produced a 14-2 run of their own to cut the lead to 50-36. UNO ended nearly seven minutes without a field goal when Kinsley put together a three-point play with just under nine minutes remaining in the contest.

UNO's advantage would not slip under double-figures as the Privateers made the most of their free throw opportunities, connecting on 19 of 24 attempts in the second half.

The Privateers will enjoy a 10-day break for finals before resuming play at 7 p.m. on Dec. 14 against Tulane at Lakefront Arena. The popular 610 Stompers will perform at halftime of the game against the Green Wave.
