UNO Holds Off Dillard for Fifth Straight Victory

Box Score NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans men's basketball team won its five straight game, downing Dillard 73-59 on Thursday night at the Human Performance Center.

The five-game winning streak for UNO (10-4) is the longest since the program won six straight games to begin the 2002-03 campaign. The Privateers took advantage of 23 DU (6-7) turnovers, scoring 32 points off the Bleu Devil miscues.

Zach Kinsley and Bryce Kemp scored 15 and 13 points, respectively for UNO. Antonio Wertz rounded out the double-figure scorers by notching his first double-double as Privateer with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Terry Church was the leading scorer for DU (6-7) with 17 points while Kenyon Harper chipped in 15.

In the opening half, DU struggled to find their shot as the Privateers jumped out to a 6-0 lead with Zach Kinsley scoring the first four.

After Cameron Hill made a basket with 16:16 remaining before the half for the Bleu Devils, the visitors would not connect again until Briant Jones connected from the field with 10:30 left. During the nearly six minutes without a field goal by DU, UNO put together an 11-0 run and a 19-4 lead with Kemp contributing five of the points during the spurt.

The Privateer advantage would grow to 19 points before the Bleu Devils closed the gap to nine before the half. UNO would extend their lead back into double-figures by wrapping up the half with a 35-22 edge.

Like the start of the game, the beginning of the second half featured a run by UNO. The 8-0 run by the Privateers pushed the lead over 20 points for the first time at 43-22.

UNO's advantage would reach 23 points on a Reginald Franklin basket with 9:57 left to make it 56-33 before DU made their move. The Bleu Devils scored 22 of the next 30 points to find themselves within nine points with 2:17 remaining.

Late turnovers setback DU as UNO would move their lead back to double-figures in the final minute by making the most of their visits to the charity stripe.

UNO will hit the road for three straight games starting on Monday against Huntingdon in Montgomery, Ala. at 5 p.m.
