Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of New Orleans men's basketball team posted its sixth straight victory, defeating Huntingdon 67-55 on Monday night.
The six-game win streak for UNO (11-4) is the longest since then-head coach Monte Towe's Privateer squad reeled off six straight to begin the season in 2002-03.
Antonio Wertz was the top scorer for Joe Pasternack's squad with 20 points with
Jaroslav Tyrna adding 12 points.
Bryce Kemp was the 'hero of the game' according to Pasternack, after scoring eight points, grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out four assists.
Kemp played a large part in holding the Huntingdon (6-10) offense to just 25.8 percent shooting from the field. Adrian Williams and Ephraim Hudson scored 15 and 11 points, respectively for the Hawks.
The duo's points came the hard way as Hudson shot 4 of 16 from the field while guarded by Kemp with Williams connecting on just 5 of 19 attempts. Williams had not struggled offensively for Huntingdon as of late and was coming off a game in which he finished two blocks short of a triple-double with 27 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks.
The loss was the second on the season for the Hawks against the Privateers. UNO defeated Huntingdon 73-68 in the team's first meeting on Dec. 22 after rallying from 18 points down for a win.
UNO led 28-26 at the half and built their lead to 14 points in the second half as the Hawks struggled to just 7 of 34 shooting in the game's final 20 minutes.
The Privateers will head to the University of Dallas on Sunday for a 3 p.m. contest. A win against the Crusaders would give UNO the team's longest streak since 1996-97 when then-head coach Tic Price led the team to seven wins, the program's second straight Sun Belt Conference regular season title and a trip to the National Invitational Tournament (NIT).
