NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans men's basketball program will host its first 'Po-Boy Tip-Off Dinner' on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at Koz's Lakeview restaurant to build excitement for the upcoming campaign.
“This is an event that I have been looking forward to since coming to the Lakefront in late June,” said UNO head basketball coach
Mark Slessinger.
In his first year at the helm of the Privateer program, Slessinger will provide attendees with a preview of the season, team and direction of the UNO basketball program. Student-athletes will also be in attendance to meet and greet.
“Our team is growing and developing every day, “said Slessinger. “Each day we work to restore and rebuild the proud history of the UNO basketball program.”
The theme for the night is “UNO Basketball – Pride from Within”.
A longtime supporter of UNO and the Privateer athletic department, Koz's Lakeview Restaurant (515 Harrison Ave, New Orleans, 70124) is the perfect setting for the event, says Slessinger.
“It is great to have Max and Koz open the doors for me to hold this event there, “said Slessinger. 'They are woven into the fabric of UNO and it is only fitting for this event to be at a place so many former Privateers have grown up with.
The dinner will start at 7 p.m. and a donation of $20 will be accepted at the door. If you have any questions, feel free to call (504) 280-6102 or contact Slessinger directly at coachsless@gmail.com.
UNO will officially open the season on Nov. 11 at New Mexico and open their Lakefront Arena slate on Tues, Nov. 15 against Selma. Season and individual tickets are presently on sale and can be purchased by calling (504) 280-GAME.
