Victory's Last Second Lay-Up Seals Win over UNO

Box Score

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Mike Davis made a lay-up with 2.5 seconds remaining to lift Victory to a 78-76 win over the University of New Orleans on Saturday afternoon.

A native of Shreveport, La. by way of Southwood High School, Davis made the game-winning basket for VU (16-15) after UNO (15-6) could not capitalize on it's last full possession of the game. The Privateers called timeout following the lay-up and Zach Kinsley turned over the ball on the ensuing possession, ending the game in favor of the hosts.

The win avenged an 81-59 loss by the Eagles to UNO at Lakefront Arena on Jan. 15.

The Privateers led 49-37 at the half, shooting 6 of 9 from beyond the arc and making all 11 free throw attempts in the game's first 20 minutes.

UNO will bring to a close the 2010-11 regular season on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against Pensacola Christian College. The Privateers defeated PCC 76-58 in December at the Human Performance Center in the team's previous meeting.
