NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans will close out a four-game homestand on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. against Champion Baptist at Lakefront Arena.
The contest will be aired exclusively on UNOPrivateers.com.
UNO (10-8) enters the mid-week game off of a 91-77 victory against Concordia-Selma this past Saturday.
The contest against CC was the first of the year in which three different players on the Privateer roster had at least four assists.
Brandon Knight headed the group with six assists while
Brandon Canady and
Antonio Holmes added five and four assists, respectively.
The assist marks were career-highs for Canady and Holmes, who helped UNO improve to 5-0 on the season when at least two players have four assists. Knight was involved in each of the five contests.
The Privateer offense benefited the most from the solid passing, particularly in the second half as the team established season-highs for the final 20 minutes in field goal percentage (55.6) and point production (54).
Lovell Cook continues to drive the UNO offense with his team-high 13.3 points per contest.
Cook is in the midst of a three-game stretch in which he is averaging 14.7 points and eight rebounds an outing. He has also scored in double-figures in eight of his last nine contests.
This Wednesday's foe is a familiar one for the remaining members of last year's roster.
The Privateers defeated CBU (6-13) 92-47 in Hot Springs, Ark. on Nov. 13, 2010 with six players including
Antonio Wertz scoring at least 10 points.
The Tigers are members of the Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA) and received 67.5 percent of their offensive production from Brandon Likins and Matthias Capaci. Likins tops all scorers with 32.8 points per game with his teammate right behind him at 20.1.
Matthias and fellow Tigers' guard Josiah, are the sons of CBU's head coach Eric Capaci, in his first-year at the helm of the program.
Following Wednesday's game, UNO will remain in the city limits for a Saturday matinee against Loyola at The Den. Tip is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the game to be broadcast on WGSO 990 AM as part of the Wolfpack's radio package.
