BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green seized the momentum late in the first half en route to defeating New Orleans 87-56 at the Stroh Center on Thursday night.
BGSU (11-15) guard Jordon Crawford scored 10 of his game-high matching 16 points during a 10-2 run over the final three minutes of the opening half. UNO (8-15) trailed 32-23 prior to the spurt which sent the Falcons into the half with a 42-25 lead.
The run continued into the second half for BGSU which scored the first eight points before a pair of
Rarlensee Nelson free throws with 17:11 remaining in the second half. Nelson scored 12 points for the Privateers in the game.
As the second half continued, the Falcons built further on their advantage. The hosts' lead reached a game-high 39 points at 87-48 with 3:26 left in the contest.
At that point, BGSU failed to connect on a field goal until the final buzzer as UNO closed the game on an 8-0 run.
Cory Dixon had two of his 12 points during the game-closing run, his fifth straight contest in double-figures.
Kevin Hill topped the Privateers with eight rebounds.
A'uston Calhoun matched Crawford with 16 points for the Falcons. Chauncey Orr added 12 points as BGSU claimed the first meeting between the two institutions.
Next for UNO is a Saturday matinee at NJIT. The contest is slated for a 1 p.m. CT start and is a rematch of the Privateers' three overtime win over the Highlanders on Jan. 21 at Lakefront Arena.

Cory Dixon has scored in double-figures 11 times on the season, including his streak of five games in a row. All of Dixon's efforts have come off the bench and he entered Thursday's contest averaging 14.2 points and seven rebounds over the last four games.
Rarlensee Nelson continued his pursuit of Jimmie Smith's single-season assist record. After adding four assists to his total, Nelson will carry 159 assists into Saturday's game at NJIT. Smith's school record is 178 assists, accomplished in 1994-95. Nelson has three more games and needs 19 more assists to equal to Smith.
