TULSA, Okla. – The New Orleans Privateers men's and women's basketball teams continue their five-game road trip on Thursday night when they will take on the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles at the Mabee Center.
The Privateers men (8-9, 5-4 Southland) are looking to navigate a perfect road trip. New Orleans has won the first three games of the road swing, after taking a 90-85 win over Southeastern in Hammond last Thursday. Five Privateers scored in double figures in the win.
New Orleans is riding their first three-game conference winning streak since the 2005-06 season when the Privateers won the final two games of the regular season along with their first round game of the Sun Belt tournament.
Freshman guard
Christavious Gill continues his scoring barrage for the Privateers. Gill notched a new career-high with 21 points, while sinking four triples and going 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Gill also tied a career-high by registering three steals in the win against Southeastern.
Senior guard
Isaac Mack pulled down a career-high eight rebounds in Thursday's win after recording a previous career-best six boards against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. In 40 previous games as a Privateer, Mack had only one game of five or more rebounds.
Oral Roberts (10-12, 4-5) is entering play on a slump, having dropped four straight Southland games after a 4-1 start. Three of the losses have been decided by four points or fewer.
The Golden Eagles are paced by Shawn Glover, who is leading the Southland in scoring at 21.5 points per game. Glover had scored 20-plus in six straight games before having that streak broken after being held to just 13 points in the most recent loss at McNeese State.
Entering Thursday, Oral Roberts is one of four teams in the Southland who have a positive scoring margin on the season. The Golden Eagles average 70.7 points per game while allowing 70.0 points per game to opponents.
The Privateers women (0-20, 0-9) look to break through after their most recent defeat, an 84-55 loss at the hands of Southeastern. The Privateers' losing streak has reached 24 games since their last victory against Utah Valley on Feb. 14, 2013.
Freshman guard
Octavia Wilson put up a team-high 17 points in the loss, and buried three triples. In 13 games since being inserted into the starting lineup, Wilson has drained 27 three-pointers. Wilson has also scored over 15 points in three of the last four games.
Senior guard
Samantha Gray dished out a career-high six assists last Thursday. It matched a Privateers high for assists in a game, tying
Melissa Jensen's six assists at McNeese State on Jan. 4. In 17 prior contests, Gray had 12 assists total.
Oral Roberts (5-14, 4-5) is coming off a conference weekend where they were swept, dropping games at Nicholls State and McNeese State. On the season, the Golden Eagles are 0-11 on the road, but have a 5-3 mark in the Mabee Center.
Christian Key paces the team in scoring at 13.8 points per game. Key has played at least 35 minutes in eight straight contests for the Golden Eagles, and has logged 35.3 minutes per game this season. Only KK Babin of Nicholls State (38.5) has logged more among Southland players.
This will be the sixth meeting all-time between the Privateers women and the Golden Eagles, but the first since 1996. Neither team has won on the other's home floor in the series. New Orleans is 0-2 all-time in Tulsa.
