THE GAME:

The New Orleans men's basketball team remains on the road this week, taking on Houston Baptist this Saturday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. CT in Southland Conference action.
 
The Privateers are looking to get back to their winning ways at 5-7 on the year and 1-2 in the league standings while Houston Baptist returns home after nearly two weeks on the road with a 6-8 overall mark and a 1-3 conference record.

HOUSTON BAPTIST  
Houston Baptist returns home to Sharp Gymnasium for the first time in nearly two weeks to take on New Orleans, holding a 1-3 mark in the Southland Conference after taking a pair of losses in its last two outings to both Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls.

LAST TIME OUT:
The New Orleans men's basketball team couldn't hold off the quick-fire offense of Incarnate Word on Monday night, falling on the road to the Cardinals in Southland Conference action, 97-66. The game was the first ever for the Privateers in the McDermott Center, starting off the first of a three-game road trip for New Orleans who sees its overall record move to 5-7 and 1-2 in league play.
 
NEXT UP:
The Privateers remain away from home for their next outing, heading to Stephen F. Austin this Monday, Jan. 19.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
History vs. the Huskies

While all-time series with the Lumberjacks began just last season, the meetings with the Huskies dates back to the 60's with the first meeting coming back on Dec. 20, 1969 with New Orleans coming out victorious, 92-74.

Privateers from the Field
As a team New Orleans arrives shooting at a .451 success rate from the field, ranking the Privateers in the top five in the Southland Conference with a 293-of-649 success rate shooting. The average also puts New Orleans in the top 100 in the nation in that category.
 
Gill's Scoring Run
With four straight double-figure scoring games, sophomore Christavious Gill has remained the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.9 points per outing, giving Gill one point for nearly every two minutes of time on the court. Gill has put together an impressive offensive run of New Orleans, scoring in double-figures in 12 out of the last 14 games for the Privateers dating back to last season.
 
In the Classroom
As a team New Orleans earned its highest recorded GPA in the Mark Slessinger era during the fall 2014 semester, posting a stellar 3.0 in the classroom.

Second Half Scoring
In the second half this year New Orleans has not faded, putting in 450 points in the final 20 minutes of ballgames compared to 433 from its opponents.
 
In the Paint
The Privateers have been tough in the paint during the 2014-15 season, outscoring their opponents by a 404-366 margin thus far.
 
Clean Brand of Basketball
The Privateers are one of the cleanest playing teams in the land, committing just 245 fouls, the 27th fewest in the nation to go with the 48th fewest turnovers at 183 total.

The Privateers have been creating their own luck lately, coming up with 93 total steals on the year. The 7.8 takeaways per game puts New Orleans at No. 56 nationally.

On the boards this season, New Orleans has allowed just 273 defensive rebounds to its opponents, the fewest total given up in the league so far this season.
