THE GAME:

A three-game road trip comes to an end for the New Orleans men's basketball team as the Privateers take on 2013-14 NCAA Tournament team Stephen F. Austin on Monday at 7 p.m. CT.
 
The Privateers look to bounce back after a loss at Houston Baptist, now holding a 5-8 overall record and a 1-3 league mark. The Lumberjacks currently hold the top spot in the Southland Conference at 14-3 on the year and 4-0 in the SLC while garnering a No. 5 national ranking in the mid-major poll.

Stephen F. Austin continues to roll under second-year head coach Brad Underwood, holding a 14-3 overall record and an unblemished 4-0 mark in Southland Conference play. The Lumberjacks now come in ranked at No. 5 in the nation in the mid-major top 25 poll.

LAST TIME OUT:
Even with 20 points from sophomore Nate Frye, the New Orleans men's basketball team couldn't hold on late, falling at Houston Baptist in the final moments, 74-73. The Privateers held a lead for most of the second half before climbing back from a six-point deficit to tie it up late in Southland Conference action as New Orleans moves its record to 5-8 on the year and 1-3 in league play.

New Orleans returns home for the first time in two weeks on Jan. 24 as the Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi arrive at that Lakefront Arena for a 6:15 p.m. CT contest.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
Frye at HBU

With a 20-point outing at Houston Baptist during the team's last outing, Nate Frye put in 20 or more points for the second time this season, the first coming in a 22-point affair at Indiana for a career-high.

Privateers from the Field
New Orleans remains one of the top shooting teams in both the Southland Conference and the nation, putting the ball in the net at a 45-percent success rate. That mark ranks the Privateers at No. 99 in the country and No. 5 in the Southland Conference.
 
Gill's Scoring Run
With five straight double-figure scoring games, sophomore Christavious Gill has remained the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.9 points per outing, giving Gill one point for nearly every two minutes of time on the court. Gill has put together an impressive offensive run of New Orleans, scoring in double-figures in 13 out of the last 15 games for the Privateers dating back to last season.
 
In the Classroom
As a team New Orleans earned its highest recorded GPA in the Mark Slessinger era during the fall 2014 semester, posting a stellar 3.0 in the classroom.

Second Half Scoring
In the second half this year New Orleans has not faded, putting in 483 points in the final 20 minutes of ballgames compared to 473 from its opponents.
 
In the Paint
The Privateers have been tough to face in the paint during the 2014-15 season, outscoring their opponents by a 428-402 margin under the basket thus far.
 
Clean Brand of Basketball
The Privateers are one of the cleanest playing teams in the land, committing just 273 fouls, the 27th fewest in the nation to go with the 48th fewest turnovers at 197 total.

The Privateers have been creating their own luck lately, coming up with 101 total steals on the year. The 7.8 takeaways per game puts New Orleans at No. 56 nationally.
Defensive Boards
On the boards this season, New Orleans has allowed just 299 defensive rebounds to its opponents, the fewest total given up in the league so far this season.
