New Orleans Returns Home for Meeting with Northwestern State

Privateers Hold 6-2 Record at Home in Lakefront Arena

THE GAME:

The New Orleans men's basketball team returns home to Lakefront Arena this Saturday, Feb. 21, at 6:15 p.m. CT to take on Southland Conference foe Northwestern State.
 
The Privateers will play four out of their last six contests on their home floor where the team holds a 6-2 record on the year.

The game will also serve as Louisiana Army National Guard night; members of the Louisiana Army National Guard will receive two free tickets with valid military ID when presented at Lakefront Arena.

THE OPPONENT:
Northwestern State     
Northwestern State arrives as one of the hottest teams in the Southland Conference after taking wins in six out of its last seven outings. The Demons are led offensively by Zeek Woodley who is putting in an average of 22.5 points per game along with teammate Marvin Frazier who is tops in blocks with his 45.

LAST TIME OUT:
The New Orleans men's basketball team held an eight-point lead over Southland Conference foe Texas A&M-Corpus Christi late on Monday night, but ultimately fell in a back-and-forth affair, 55-53, in the American Bank Center. The contest saw 13 lead changes and five ties including five in the last five minutes alone as New Orleans moves its record to 7-14 overall and 3-9 in conference play.
 
NEXT UP:
New Orleans returns to the road next Monday, Feb. 23, as the squad heads to rival Southeastern Louisiana for a 7 p.m. CT outing.

Double-Figure Scorers

As a team the Privateers now have three players averaging double-figure point totals including Christavious Gill (12.4), Kevin Hill (11.2) and Kevin Brown (10.1).

Home Sweet Home
Coming down the home stretch of the regular season New Orleans is set to play four out of its last six games at home in the Lakefront Arena where the Privateers hold a 6-2 record.

With 12 straight double-figure scoring games out of his last 13 outings, sophomore Christavious Gill has remained the team's leading scorer, averaging 12.4 points per outing, giving Gill one point for nearly every two minutes of time on the court. Gill has put together an impressive offensive run of New Orleans, scoring in double-figures in 20 out of the last 23 games for the Privateers dating back to last season.

Frye's Free Throws
With 58-of-68 makes from the free-throw line, Nate Frye ranks No. 4 in the Southland Conference and No. 46 in the nation in free-throw percentage with an .853 mark.
