– The University of New Orleans Athletic Director Derek Morel has announced the addition of Vince Granito as the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations. Granito joins the staff at the Lakefront with over 30 years of experience working in collegiate athletics, including running NCAA championship events.

As the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, Granito will be responsible for game day operations for all home contests as well as special events.  He will oversee the advancement of several student-athletes support areas and manage renovation projects within several facilities in addition to other duties associated with internal operations.

"Vince has a plethora of industry experience and many positive relationships in the New Orleans area," Morel said. "He's a pro, and we are fortunate to have him on our team."

Granito assisted the Privateers during the 2016-17 men's and women's basketball season, taking the game day administrator responsibilities for all home events at the UNO Lakefront Arena. He played a pivotal role with UNO hosting the 2017 Southland Conference Track and Field Championships this past May, using his experience overseeing and coordinating NCAA events including two Women's Final Fours and the 2012 Men's Final Four to make sure the first SLC event hosted by the Privateers went smoothly.

Granito has been working in collegiate athletics since 1987, when he joined Tulane University as the Director of Ticket Operations and was promoted to Associate Athletic Director where he oversaw a plethora of different departments during his 20-year run as an Associate AD. While holding the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Management role, Tulane added Yulman Stadium, Greer Field and the renovation of Devlin Fieldhouse at Fogelman Arena.

"I am proud and honored to be joining The University of New Orleans, Athletic Director Derek Morel and the athletic staff," Granito said." I am looking forward to working with our coaches, student-athletes and the fans to continue to advance the success of UNO athletics in the Southland Conference, regionally and nationally."

The Privateers are coming off a 2016-17 academic year that saw 10 of its 12 athletic programs qualify for their Southland Conference Tournament, highlighted by the men's basketball team claiming UNO's first SLC championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. Individually, the pair of Michael Nicholls and Nicholas Mitchel qualified for the NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary round, with Nicholls punching his ticket to Eugene, Ore., for the National Championships.
