THIBODAUX, La – Kyle Arjona was forced in a sticky situation in an early relief appearance, but held the Colonels scoreless in 6.2 innings of work in the University of New Orleans' (24-28, 13-14 Southland) 12-5 victory over Nicholls State University (23-30, 11-16 Soutland) Sunday afternoon at Ben Meyer Diamond at Didier Field.
 
The Privateers did not waste anytime getting on the board in the first, scoring a pair of runs on four consecutive base hits by Magee, Howard, Veillon, and Bratton to give UNO and early 2-0 advantage.
 
The Colonels took the lead in their half of the first scoring five runs on three hits. But UNO battled back scoring three runs in the third, two on a Bratton single and one more on an errant throw on a pickoff attempt.
 
The Blue and Silver extend its lead to 10-5 on RBI singles by Magee, Howard, Bratton, and a sacrifice fly by Robinson.
 
New Orleans add a run in the fifth and sixth to give the Privateers a 12-5 lead, and seal the series sweep.
 
Arjona improved to 3-4 on the season. Christian Bahlinger (2-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs on five hits. 
Matthew Gillis and Rafael Matinez both had scoreless outings.
 
Pearce Howard lead the way going 4-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. 
Beau Bratton extended his on base streak to 23, going 3-5 with four ribbies and a run scored. 
Owen Magee and 
Orynn Veillon combined to go 4-9 and both drove in a run. 
Darren Willis added three hits and scored a pair of runs.
 
NEXT UP
The Privateers travel to Hattiesburg on Tuesday to take on nationally ranked Southern Miss at 6 p.m.
