Howard goes 4-for-5, and Arjona Dazzles in 12-5 Victory Over Nicholls

THIBODAUX, La – Kyle Arjona was forced in a sticky situation in an early relief appearance, but held the Colonels scoreless in 6.2 innings of work in the University of New Orleans' (24-28, 13-14 Southland) 12-5 victory over Nicholls State University (23-30, 11-16 Soutland) Sunday afternoon at Ben Meyer Diamond at Didier Field.

The Privateers did not waste anytime getting on the board in the first, scoring a pair of runs on four consecutive base hits by Magee, Howard, Veillon, and Bratton to give UNO and early 2-0 advantage.

The Colonels took the lead in their half of the first scoring five runs on three hits. But UNO battled back scoring three runs in the third, two on a Bratton single and one more on an errant throw on a pickoff attempt.

The Blue and Silver extend its lead to 10-5 on RBI singles by Magee, Howard, Bratton, and a sacrifice fly by Robinson.

New Orleans add a run in the fifth and sixth to give the Privateers a 12-5 lead, and seal the series sweep.

Arjona improved to 3-4 on the season. Christian Bahlinger (2-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs on five hits. Matthew Gillis and Rafael Matinez both had scoreless outings.

Pearce Howard lead the way going 4-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Beau Bratton extended his on base streak to 23, going 3-5 with four ribbies and a run scored. Owen Magee and Orynn Veillon combined to go 4-9 and both drove in a run. Darren Willis added three hits and scored a pair of runs.
