NEW ORLEANS - Louisiana native
Brock Moreaux is coming home. A graduate of Delcambre (Louisiana) High School and McNeese State University, Moreaux (New Iberia, La.) was named the assistant cross country and track and field coach at the University of New Orleans by head coach
Brian Johnson Monday.
Â
Moreaux comes to UNO from California State University Northridge (CSUN) where he served in the same capacity.
Â
"I'm from here and I've been at a program that excelled in Louisiana," said Moreaux. "I know it can be done and I know what it takes. I'm looking forward to trying to build something like that at UNO."
Â
As a student-athlete at McNeese, Moreaux was a member of the 2012 Southland Conference Cross Country championship team. In 2015, he was Southland Conference Champion in the 3k Steeplechase.
Â
After earning a bachelor's degree in business administration, he interned and then was an assistant at McNeese and moved on to be a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma.
Â
In August 2017, Moreaux moved to CSUN. While at Northridge, the Matadors achieved the highest men's Big West Conference Cross Country finish in program history and five distance runners scored at the 2018 Big West Outdoor Championships compared to one in 2017.
Â
"He's a hard worker," declared Johnson. "He's a recruiter. Coaching is one thing, but you have to recruit for the program to develop the way it should. That is Brock's strong point and along with the staff we already have we can achieve some great things at UNO."
Â
Coach Moreaux also holds a master's degree in health and human performance from McNeese with an overall grade point average of 4.0.
