NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans head men's basketball coach
Mark Slessinger released the 2019-20 schedule Wednesday. The Privateers, coming off a third consecutive postseason appearance, will begin the quest for a second Southland Conference championship under Slessinger at home November 5 versus Spring Hill. The 7 p.m. contest on Tuesday will be Homecoming at Lakefront Arena.
Highlights non-conference contests include trips to Butler, SMU, Mississippi State, Hawaii and Memphis.
"We feel our nonconference schedule will once again be very aggressive," said Slessinger. "It has always been our philosophy to play a national schedule to promote our brand and prepare our team for a rugged Southland schedule and postseason."
Following the season and home opener, the Privateers will rack up the miles on a four-game road trip. A trip to Butler (November 9), SMU (November 12), Mississippi State (November 17) and Hawaii (November 24) highlight a tough non-conference schedule before the Thanksgiving Break.
Spend Black Friday on the Lakefront as New Orleans hosts Eureka College at 12 p.m. and welcomes New Orleans foe Xavier November 30 at 6 p.m.
As the calendar flips to the second month of the season, the Privateers take a short bus trip to LSU December 3 before returning to Lakefront Arena to host Williams Baptist December 14 at 6 p.m.
The 20-game Southland Conference schedule is in place this season and UNO hosts Conference Tournament champion Abilene Christian in the league opener December 18 at 7 p.m.
Sless' squad visits Southland regular season winner Sam Houston State December 21 at 2 p.m. in the final game before the Christmas Break.
One final nonconference contest is on the docket – a trip to Memphis – December 28.
2020 begins with a three-game homestand January 2 (Lamar, 7 p.m.), January 4 (Stephen F. Austin, 6 p.m.) and January 8 (Central Arkansas, 7:15 p.m.).
The Privateers conclude the season hosting Southeastern Louisiana at 6 p.m. March 7. The Southland Tournament begins March 11 in Katy, Texas.
