NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans golf program played round two of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate Monday, volleyball begins the week at Jackson State, men's and women's tennis begin the fall with the Scramble on the Bayou at the University Tennis Center and cross country is at Nicholls Saturday at 8 a.m.
The top 50 student-athletes in New Orleans men's basketball history will be released via social media every day at 3 p.m. On Friday, a recap highlighting No. 50-No. 46 will be posted.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
In honor of the 50
th anniversary of collegiate athletics, New Orleans men's basketball will release its Top 50 student-athletes of all-time, beginning Monday.
VOLLEYBALL
The Privateers (5-5) will make the trip to the capital of Mississippi to face the Jackson State Tigers (3-8) on Monday. The final non-conference matches will then commence at the Hampton Inn Charleston/West Ashley C of C Invitational.
New Orleans will face Charleston, Jacksonville State, and Charleston Southern in the upcoming weekend at TD Arena.

Lucie Pokorna has made all three all-tournament teams. Pokorna currently leads the Southland Conference in assists per set at 9.74. The next closest is Meghan Wozniak (Nicholls) at 8.80.

Andrea Nava became the tenth Privateer in program history to eclipse 1,000 digs. She achieved the feat against Tennessee State. Nava had 41 digs for the weekend.
- New Orleans is 9-3 all-time against Jackson State. The Privateers swept the Tigers in New Orleans on Sep. 8, 2018 (25-16, 25-19, 25-20).
TENNIS
The New Orleans men's and women's tennis teams will also begin their fall schedule over the weekend when they host the Scramble on the Bayou at the University Tennis Center. The tournament gets going on Friday at 10 a.m.
As was the format last year, the Privateers will play singles and doubles against Jackson State, Nicholls, and Prairie View A&M. Both teams went 3-0 under the current format last season.
NOTES
- The men's team features four new players in
Austin Vos,
Espen Lagarde,
Malte Steingass, and
Mihajlo Drobnjakovic to complement three returners:
Johannes Klein,
Mats Westkamp, and
Misha Fomenkov.
- Klein was part of an all-conference doubles team last season at flight two. He also earned honorable mention from the LSWA.
- The women's team has two new student-athletes in freshmen,
Tristanne Dechoux and
Annalena Eggestein.

Ank Vullings had 13 singles wins and 14 doubles victories last spring. Vullings was part of a doubles team that was second team all-conference.
CROSS COUNTRY
Both the men's and women's cross country teams are coming off a weekend sweep at the Allstate Sugar Bowl XC Festival. It was the first time that both squads have picked up victories at the same meet since 1989. While the Privateers will not be taking their full unit, the team is back in action with a select group at Southland rival Nicholls State's XC Invitational on Saturday. The women's collegiate race will start things off at 8 a.m. and will be followed by the men's at 8:30 a.m.
GOLF
New Orleans is currently at the Jim Rivers Collegiate in Squire Creek.
Grayson Gilbert is currently fifth (tied) at three-under.
