NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans' game against Utah Friday evening has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns within the Utes program. The game was the latter of a back-to-back for the Privateers to begin the season.
The Privateers begin their season at #RV BYU Thursday at 8 p.m. CT. The contest will be televised onBYUtv.org, which is available on DirecTV, Dish and Charter.
Troy Green was named Preseason All-Southland Conference and head coach Mark Slessinger enters his 10th season at the helm of the Privateers. Green is 57 points away from becoming the 24th member of the 1,000-point club and is nearing the top 10 in several statistical categories after averaging a career-high 14.6 points per game. Damion Rosser averaged 11.3 points per game before an injury sidelined him last year. Jahmel Myers is the veteran up front as the junior is coming off a season in which he averaged 7.8 points and 3.7 rebounds. All in all, UNO returns six lettermen, three redshirts and welcomes eight newcomers.
