New Orleans will then turn their attention to Southland play when they open up a four-game series against HBU starting on Friday. First pitch for the series opener is slated for 6:30 p.m.Â

This year is the first time the Privateers are hosting LSU on the diamond since 2017. Friday starter,
Chris Turpin struck out 11 in his most recent start against Bradley.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Privateers are back in Katy and searching for their second championship in five seasons. New Orleans will be the No. 5 seed and play the winner of McNeese and Southeastern on Wednesday at 5 p.m. on ESPN+. The game can also be heard on NASH Icon 106.1 FM, beginning with the pregame show at 4:45 p.m.
UNO ended the regular season with three victories and won five of the last six league contests. New Orleans went 2-1 against the Cowboys and Lions. The Privateers are in the all-Louisiana side of the bracket and will compete at 5 p.m. until the championship Saturday. The Southland title game will be on ESPN2 at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Damion Rosser was named second team all-conference after averaging 15.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists. In league play,Â
TDR posted averages of 16.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists. Â
Fresh off a 3-0 week, senior guard Troy Green was recognized as the Southland Conference's final Player of the Week.Â
Green averaged 20.3 points on 53.7 percent shooting, 7.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the final week of the regular season. TG is one point shy of moving into No. 11 in program history in scoring (1,306 points) and led UNO to five wins in its last six games. Â

VOLLEYBALLÂ
The Privateers (2-7) will return home for a Saturday tilt against Abilene Christian. The match is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.Â

New Orleans returns home after a four-match road trip. Four of their last five matches of the regular season are at home. Â

The Privateers have surrendered the fourth fewest blocks per set in the Southland while recording the second most blocks per set.
Hannah Volpi had her first career double-double against Central Arkansas with 15 digs and 13 assists.Â

TENNISÂ
The men's and women's tennis teams will both be in action this week. The men will start the week by hosting Illinois State on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Road trips to Abilene Christian and St. Mary's (Texas) follow on Thursday and Saturday.Â

After four straight matches that were postponed, the men's team got back on the court and defeated Xavier who was in the top five in the preseason NAIA poll. The Privateers won the doubles point and got singles wins from
Max Heinzel,
Marcel Volz,
Misha Fomenkov and
Luke Joujan.Â

The Privateers women's tennis team will look to remain unblemished in Southland play as they travel to Abilene Christian and UIW on Friday and Sunday.Â

The women's team won a pair of 4-3 results against Northwestern State and Central Arkansas in the previous week. In both matches, they came back after being defeated in the doubles point.
Ank Vullings and
Lina Hohnhold both won their two singles matches last week. Vullings carries an 18-match singles winning streak into this weekend.Â

TRACK & FIELD
After a record-setting indoor season, the Privateers will open their outdoor campaign with the South Alabama Invitational on Friday, March 12.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL
The Privateers return to the sand and visit Monroe, Louisiana for the ULM Warhawk Invitational Friday and Saturday. UNO is scheduled to take on Southeastern and ULM among others. The Privateers defeated the Lady Lions 3-1 at the Green Wave Invitational earlier this season.
Veronica Corcoran and Victoria Corcoran went 2-2 at the top flight and received Southland Honorable Mention.Â
GOLF
Last week the Privateers finished fourth at the rain-shortened Gulf Coast Collegiate in Diamondhead. For the second year in a row at the event both
Grayson Gilbert (tied for fifth) and
Florian Moosmeier (tied for seventh) placed in the top ten individually. The team continued last season's success against fellow Southland teams finishing ahead of three of the other four league teams in the tournament.Â
