Eaton Announces Schedule Changes for Pom Tryouts and Technique Camp

NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans Director of Spirit Squads Jordyn Eaton has made scheduling adjustments to the upcoming Pom and BrUNO tryouts and the Pom Technique Camp.

Tryouts for both the Pom squad and Captain BrUNO - originally scheduled for Friday September 10th will be held on Saturday September 11th. Tryouts will take place from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Human Performance Center.

GENERAL TRYOUT INFORMATION
  • Must be registered through online application prior to September 11th tryouts. Click here to register
  • COVID-19 Regulations will reflect city and statewide regulations at time of the tryout. 
  • Interview attire can be business attire of the individual's choice. This gives each candidate the opportunity to showcase their personality during interviews. 
  • All candidates must wear black top (crop top, sports bra, or fitted tank acceptable), fitted black shorts, and tennis shoes for the audition portion. 
  • Individuals can bring snacks and water for the audition. It is recommended to pack a lunch as there may or may not be cuts during lunch, meaning any hopeful could be asked to the second round. 
  • Individuals trying out for BrUNO do not have to attend the entire audition day. They can arrive at 2:30 p.m. for the last portion of auditions.
  • Individuals auditioning for BrUNO can wear either black or UNO-branded apparel.
  • There will be opportunities to showcase individual skills and talents in the audition routines so individuals should be prepared to showcase.
  • Team results will be posted on the HPC doors after tryouts. Hopefuls may wait in the designated waiting area until the results are posted.
 TRYOUT ITINERARY
  • 8-8:30 a.m. Check-In
  • 8:30-9:30 a.m. Meet and Greet
  • 9-10:30 a.m. Learn Audition Choreo
  • 10:30 -11 a.m. Review Audition Choreo
  • 11-12 p.m. First Round Audition
  • 12-1 p.m. Lunch
  • 1-2 p.m. Sideline Choreo
  • 2-2:30 p.m. Review Sideline Choreo
  • 2:30-3:30 p.m. Second Round Audition
  • 3:30-4 p.m. BrUNO Auditions (hopefuls can stay to cheer on mascot auditions)
  • 4 p.m. Team Announced
In addition, the technique camp originally scheduled for this Saturday has now been moved back to Saturday December 18th from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Human Performance Center.  The technique camp will feature guests from the New Orleans cheerleading community including Dylon Hoffpauir, and Tiffany Willis.

The technique camp is open to high school students grades 9-12 as well as current college students. The cost is $25 dollars per person, with a group rate of $15 dollars per person for groups of 10 or more.

  • 10:30-11:00 a.m. Hip Hop Showcase
  • 11-11:30 a.m. Technique
  • 11:30-12:30 p.m. Lunch (provided) 
  • 12:30-1:30 p.m. Pom Routine
  • 1:30-2:00 p.m. Pom Showcase
  • 2:00-2:30 p.m. Sideline Routine
  • 2:30-3:00 p.m. Sideline Showcase
  • 3:00 p.m. Closing Remarks
