Privateer Pom’s Inaugural Kids Camp Now Set for Jan. 27

INFORMATION | REGISTRATION

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans Pom squad's inaugural Kids Camp has a new date and will now take place on Saturday January 27 at the Human Performance Center.

"Our team is excited to hold our first Kids Camp! This is something our team has been wanting to do for a long time and we're ready to bring it to fruition! Our young women find so much joy in being role models to young children in the community and helping them cultivate their love of cheer and dance," said Head Coach Jordyn Eaton.

The camp takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is open to children between the ages of 5-12. Children will be split into two groups (ages 5-8, and 9-12) and taught how to perform three Privateer chants. Face painting and opportunities for photos with Captain BrUNO will also be available to everyone in attendance.

All participants will also be invited to perform with the Privateer Pom squad during the Feb. 3 basketball doubleheader against UIW at Lakefront Arena. Eaton feels this is the perfect opportunity for the participants to showcase their skills.

"That Saturday happens to be our National Girls and Women in Sports dedication games, as well as our Day of Dance game, and what better way to celebrate than with our future generations of cheerleaders and dancers."

A discounted family ticket will be available for that game for family members of all participating children.

The cost of the camp is $30 a person, and parents/guardians must sign a waiver upon arrival. Any questions can be directed to Eaton at jeaton2@uno.edu.
