NEW ORLEANS – After opening the first three Southland Conference games of the season at Lakefront Arena Privateer men's (10-8, 3-0 Southland) and women's basketball (1-9, 0-3 Southland) hit the road for trips to HBU on Thursday, and McNeese this weekend.

The Privateer women travel to HBU on a seven-game losing streak. Last time on the floor they dropped a difficult matchup to Northwestern State 75-47. DeArica Pryor scored 14 – her fifth consecutive game in double-figures. Zoe Cooper finished with six points and seven rebounds.

HBU (6-8, 2-1 Southland) holds a slender lead in the all-time series 5-4, but the Privateers won the last meeting between the teams 88-84 in overtime back in 2020. At Sharp Gymnasium New Orleans is 2-3 all-time with the last win coming in 2017.

Against McNeese (6-10, 1-2 Southland) the Privateer women hold a 23-14 lead all-time and have won nine of the last ten meetings. UNO is 8-6 all-time in Lake Charles, and 2-0 at the Legacy Center.

Mark Slessinger looks to win his 142nd game at UNO on Sunday evening in Lake Charles. The Privateer men have won six straight contests, the longest winning streak since the 2011-2012 season - Slessinger's first.

Derek St. Hilaire was named LSWA Men's Basketball Player of the week after scoring 29 points on 11-of-20 shooting against Northwestern State. The graduate student currently averages 19.8 points per contest – good for second in the Southland and 22nd nationally in scoring.

The Privateer men lead the all-time series with HBU (6-10, 2-1 Southland) 5-4, and the teams have split the eight games played at Sharp Gymnasium evenly. UNO won the last meeting between the two sides earlier this season 81-65 at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.

UNO also leads the series against the McNeese men by a count of 16-9, and 6-5 in Lake Charles. Like the women the New Orleans men are 2-0 at the Legacy Center.

Both games against HBU can be viewed live on HBUHuskies.com. Jude Young will describe the action on UNOPrivateers.com for the women's game, and NASH 106.1 FM for the men's game. Tip-offs are set for 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The women's game on Saturday will be streamed on McNeeseSports.com with live audio also available on UNOPrivateers.com with tip-off set for 1 p.m. The men's game will take place on Sunday and be broadcast nationally on ESPNU with tip-off set for 5 p.m. Radio coverage with Jude Young will be available on NASH 106.1 FM.
